1/30/24 Update from DUPR:
Today, we released significant updates to our rating, which will ensure more accuracy, connectivity, consistency, and reliability — and an even better pickleball experience for you.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Points Matter. Was this a tight match or a blowout? DUPR now evaluates the closeness of the match, so a score of 11-0 will have a bigger impact on your rating than a close match of 11-9 against that same opponent.
- Recency Matters. A match you played today will impact your rating more than a match you played six months ago.
- Total Match Count Matters. If you’ve played in a lot of matches, your rating will fluctuate less compared to a player with a lower match count.
- Every Match Matters (even against unrated players). Every match counts towards your rating, even if you are playing against someone who is unrated or new to DUPR.
These updates will be applied across all your match results in our platform, as well as to all future results you submit. Want to ensure your rating is accurate and up to date? Hit the court and share your results! For a deeper look into the new rating updates, check out our new blog written by DUPR’s Head of Analytics, Scott Mendelssohn.
12/16/22 Update – Email from Kenn Huff, CFPC Director of Competition:
Cape Fear Pickleball Club Members,
DUPR is the only rating system that currently allows recreation games to be inputted into a rating system.
I believe that the Spring Inter-Community League will be using DUPR as its rating system to decide if players will be placed in the 3.0 or 3.5 levels.
DUPR is free to sign up by going to www.mydupr.com. Once there, check and make sure you do not already have an account. If you do just claim it. Next, signup by looking at the Clubs. You should be able to find “Cape Fear Pickleball Club.”. No worries if you cannot join, just set up for a free account.
Once you have an account you will have to claim your account name. This might take a few days for DUPR to get you in the system.
You can only get a valid score if all 4 players have a DUPR account. However, if not all have an account you can invite them to join if you know their email address.
For example, you play a game. You and Mary play Bill and Susan. Only one player needs to set up the match in the system and that may be you, so you go to the site and add a match. You and Mary win 11-5. You enter the score. Now, only one player from the opposing team, Bill or Susan, must log into their account to validate that score.
Initially you will have a provisional rating. However, after several games you will have a valid rating. The more games in the system, the more accurate your rating will become. Especially if you play a variety of opponents.
For those of you who have been requesting a rating system, I feel this is the best one.
