New Board Members Elected at Annual General Membership Meeting

The Annual General Membership Meeting of the Cape Fear Pickleball Club was held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Inland Greens Clubhouse in Wilmington.

The election of new Board members was the main order of business. This year, five Board positions were up for election. President Kevin Chandler presented the slate to the membership, and the slate was approved unanimously. Your new board members for 2018-2019 are:

  •       President: Bill Bradford
  •       Treasurer: Jane Klippel (re-elected)
  •       Director of Training: Joe Reina
  •       Director of Social Events: Feri Nejad (re-elected)
  •       Director of Membership: Cindy Dovel and Grace Gilligan (Co-Directors)

President Chandler also announced the appointment of Carolyn Ryan to fill the unexpired term of the Vice-President.

The Board also voted unanimously to keep club dues the same as they are now:

  • Full year: $25 single/$45 couple/$65 family.
  • Half-year (after July 1st): $15/$25/$35.

The Chair recognized Steve Morrissey to address the membership. Steve will be the new USAPA Ambassador for this region, taking over for the retiring Kevin Chandler. He described his goals for increasing communication with elected officials to increase pickleball awareness and promotion, and to open additional venues for pickleball. He also presented a gift to Kevin in appreciation of the many years of dedicated service as a pickleball ambassador and President of the Cape Fear Pickleball Club.

The Chair also recognized Emily Martinelli, who has taken over the club’s Facebook page. Emily has been on duty for only a few days and has already enlivened the page and given it a fresh look with frequent updates. Facebook users should check in on it frequently.
